Mikko Innanen & Mika Kallio duo

Made of the number one star of the young Finnish reeds generation and his counterpart in drums, the duo leans heavily on improvising, which they have perfected playing together in Nuijamiehet till 2000 and the Gourmet sextet for some ten years almost. This unique combo has published in 2005 one of the best Finnish jazz albums of that year: "Six acres of Broken Hearts"

Fluent with the whole sax family, Mikko Innanen's (born 1978) endless creativity and redblooded soulfulness leaves nobody cold. The heir of giants, like Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman and Juhani Aaltonen, his jazz is never dry or academic, but playful, sassy, deep, surpising. Mikko graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2003 and has shown his awesome chops in the Danish-Finnish Delirium and Triot, the French Triade, The Finnish New Music Orchestra (UMO) and his own Innkvisitio, to name a few.

Mika Kallio (born 1974) received his master's degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2002. His ability to groove, groove or paint freely as the situation calls has taken him already to countless bands and recordings. Among others, He has drummed also for Gnomus, Mr Fonebone, UMO, Tomasz Stanko, Eero Koivistoinen, Samuli Mikkonen and most recently, for Sébastien Boisseau's Unit and in a brand new duo with Raoul Björkenheim. Mika teaches at the Sibelius Academy and the Konservatorio of Kuopio.
