ANKER/TABORN/CLEAVER had its premiere in may 2003, where the band did a very succesful tour in France, Germany and Denmark. Since then ACT has been performing at festivals and clubs/concertspaces in Scandinavia, Europe, USA and Canada as well as released the critically acclaimed CD ”Triptych” (LeoRecords). Lotte Anker and Gerald Cleaver had earlier been working together in Ankers trio with american pianoplayer Marilyn Crispell. Craig and Gerald has known each other- as well as played
together- since they were in college together in Detroit more than 15 years ago, which is heard in the amazing intuitive way they communicate musically.
ANKER/TABORN/CLEAVER is Lotte Ankers other trioproject (besides the trio with Marilyn Crispell) but this one is more focused on the sonic aspects of music as well as certain rhytmic structures though still build on a concept of free improvisation mixed with compositions/structures for impro by Lotte Anker. The same music goes all the way into exploring the wild, poetic, weird, unexpected
and hypnotic sides of musical communication.

Lotte Anker: tenor-alto-sopranosaxophone & composer
Known for her intense playing and one of the strongest improvisers in the freeform/ improfield in Denmark + very active composer. Works currently as co-leader of the highly acclaimed 12- piecegroup “Copenhagen Art Ensemble” and as leader of trio/duo with Marilyn Crispell + the quartet Ictus (w. bassist Peter Friis-Nielsen). Has also played and toured with a.o. Tim Berne, Herb Robertson, Paal Nilssen-Love, Peter Brötzmann, Marc Ducret, Marilyn Mazur etc.
Craig Taborn: piano, keyboards, electronics
Very inventive and highly estimated both as a pianoplayer and his work with electronics. Craig is both known from working on the Detroit technoscene (w/Carl Craig) and from freejazz/improgroups like Roscoe Mitchells “Notefactory”, Tim Bernes groups:”Hard Cell” and “Science Friction”. He also works with Susie Ibarra, Chris Potter, Dave Binney + his own projects eg. Junk magic
Gerald Cleaver: drums
G.C. is known as a super attentive drummer with a beautiful sound and hypnotic play. He has played with a long list of musicians both from the avantgarde/impro to the more mainstream; fx (from first category): Henry Threadgill, Reggie Workman, Mark Helias:”Open Loose”, Ellery Eskelin, Charles Gayle, Miroslav Vitous, William Parker, Tony Malaby and is also a member of Roscoe Mitchells “Note Factory”.
