French cellist Vincent Courtois has invited tenor saxophonists Daniel Erdmann and Robin Fincker to form a singular trio with an unprecedented instrumentation. Mediums will perform in Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Finland from March 4th to 15th.

“Mediums is the story of a set of music I imagined, then wrote on the page of my childhood memories lived in the fantastical world of fairgrounds. When interpreting it, saxophonists Daniel Erdmann and Robin Fincker inhabited this gallery of strange characters who had come straight out of caravans and managed to give them life. As well as looking for complementary instruments to broaden the palette I have regularly played with tenor saxophones. It is in a way the twin brother of the cello and there is natural evidence between these two instruments from “the middle” where all the combinations are possible in neighboring registers.”

Review of the album “Mediums”
“French cellist Vincent Courtois goes back to the times of his youth, watching the world and creating stories out of what he sees, trying to understand, fantasising and embellishing or fearing the worst. For this journey he is accompanied by two tenor saxophonists, Daniel Erdmann from Germany and Robin Fincker (French who has spent 10 years in the UK). An unusual line-up yet one that works well to create this world of intimate feelings, with a scene that is each time beautifully set, cautiously presented, and nicely crafted.” (…)
