The “retro futuristic pocket orchestra” Abysskiss arrives from France on 10 March for a 10-concert tour around Finland and continues in the Baltics from 21 to 28 March with two concerts in Estonia and four in Latvia. The tour is part of the Francophony month.
Abysskiss is an exciting pocket orchestra: a small ensemble with the sound of a full orchestra. The band combines the baritone guitar, saxophone, vibraphone, vocals, euphonium and flugabone, a rarely heard brass instrument. This miniature orchestra explores the intersection of jazz, chamber music, singing and improvisation, creating a unique style of expression. The band’s latest album, Big Dipper, has received wide attention in France and has been included in the lists of rising artists 2025 by Jazz Magazine and by the French Jazz Academy.
Founded by saxophonist Camille Maussion and guitarist Pierre Téreygeol, Abysskiss challenges the rules of jazz. Victor Auffray (euphonium, flugabone, vocals) and Illya Amar (vibraphone) complete the group, which keeps on surprising its listeners with own unique soundscapes. The music of Abysskiss skilfully avoids categorisation: everyone can experience it in his/her own way.
The tour of Abysskiss is part of the Francophony month in Finland, Estonia and Latvia. It has been booked by the Helsinki based agency Vapaat äänet which celebrates this Autumn 30 years of touring activities.
