Eve Risser
French multi-instrumentalist and improvisor Eve Risser (Paris) is an amazing musical figure whose imaginative ability and authentic voice is thrown into high relief by her relative youth. Focused on the prepared piano, the garden of her own unique universe of instrumental possibilities, Risser also uses her own voice, toys, electronics, and other instruments to create careful, dense pieces that hold up to multiple listenings.
Eve Risser has her musical roots in chamber music as a flutist and pianist. While residing in Alsace, France, she merged in to the contemporary and jazz/improvised music world. At the same time she got involve in Tap Dancing and Ondes Martenot. After studies in Strasbourg, Paris and Blatimore (Peabody), she graduated at Music National Conservatory in Paris in Jun2008 .Since January, 2009 she takes part of National Jazz Orchestra.
Eve’s multifaceted musical creativity has been heard in various settings, festivals and groups throughout Europe, USA and Japan. She has had the opportunity to play with interesting improvisers in a broad range of contexts, such as in theatre, dance, poetry, children, solo performances, contemporary and live soundtracks to films. Eve’s actual musical researches are based on the exploration of paradoxal piano sounds. She co-leads, plays, and composes in the Donkey Monkey duo with the Japanese-French drummmer Yuko Oshima, and quartet The New Songs with the swedish singer Sofia Jernberg. Currently Eve’s musical life is based out of Paris where she is involved in organizing contemporary and improvised music live performances and the label Umlaut.
