Initiated by violinist Jacky Molard and saxophonist Francois Corneloup, Entre les terres is a chamber group “In Between Lands”. In this open territory, contemporary jazz and improvised music simultaneously resonate with the familiar and timeless echoes of World Music, from the rich tradition of Brittany to Balkan and Irish dances. Served by the unique voices of its four brilliant protagonists, the vibrant and evocative performances of this acoustic quartet transcend stylistic boundaries and captivate listeners.
From September 28 to October 13 the French quartet performs six concerts in Finland, five in Estonia and three in Latvia. As a coda of this extensive tour, cellist Vincent Courtois and Francois Corneloup perform a duo concert at the Vilnius Jazz Festival on October 16.
At the core of this musical endeavor are two talented artists who compose for the band: Jacky Molard, violinist hailing from Brittany, who fearlessly explores contemporary paths in music, constantly revitalizing its traditions; saxophonist François Corneloup who skillfully navigates the realms of jazz and improvised music, effortlessly blending eclectic styles in a spontaneous manner. Joining forces with Molard and Corneloup is firstly Catherine Delaunay, an accomplished virtuoso of the clarinet, known for her versatility across various musical forms, ranging from chamber music to contemporary and improvised expressions. Finally, Vincent Courtois, an ever-curious explorer of European creative stages, brings the rich and passionate melodies of his cello to each project he undertakes.
From 2020, Entre les terres has played some twenty concerts in festivals and venues all over France. These live performances have been praised by the audience and the music journalists – “irresistible sound” writes Franck Bergerot in Jazz Magazine. The first album of the band has been released in April 2024 on Emouvance Records.
