Un Poco Loco is what you get when you put together three French modern-day improvisers and let them revisit the bebop repertoire of the 1940s and 50s, with a preference for standards spiced up with an exotic je ne sais quoi. Trombonist Fidel Fourneyron and his fellow companions will make their debut in Finland from November 7th to 13th.

This new trio digs up lesser-known or unexpected themes and chisel its way — both whimsically and respectfully — through form, timbre and counterpoint, thus adding their own particular grammar as contemporary musicians to the existing musical language.

Jazz Migration: Un Poco Loco Feelin’ Pretty

Un Poco Loco is recipient of Jazz Migration program 2016. This program is leaded by AJC, the network of French jazz  promoters,  who  select  every  year  young  musicians  in  order  to  promote  them  and  help them developing their career. Vapaat äänet and the AJC present the new project of Un Poco Loco in Helsinki and Turku on November 9th and 10th.

Un Poco Loco decided to tackle a monument of American culture : West Side Story. Leonard Bernstein’s unforgettable standards are in turn stripped naked and dressed in new clothes. Tony, Maria, Jets and Sharks are gently hustled, and the magnificent score becomes a preamble to the improvisers’s wildest games. Un Poco Loco feels pretty!

Tour production: association Uqbar

The concerts in Helsinki and Turku on November 9th and 10th are part of Jazz Migration 2016.
